Getting started

Download the correct file

Use the repository’s Releases page and download the asset named like:

Darkkle-v2.3.0.zip

Do not use GitHub’s automatically generated “Source code” ZIP as the installable extension. The release asset is built from an explicit list and contains manifest.json at its root.

Install in a Chromium browser

  1. Extract the release ZIP to a folder that will not be moved or deleted.
  2. Open the browser’s extension-management page.
  3. Enable Developer mode.
  4. Choose Load unpacked.
  5. Select the extracted folder containing manifest.json.
  6. Open or refresh a spreadsheet.
  7. Select the Darkkle toolbar icon to open the settings panel.

The settings panel opens pinned beside the spreadsheet by default. Use its unpin control to return to the toolbar-popup behaviour.

Upgrade an unpacked installation

  1. Export a settings backup as a precaution.
  2. Extract the new release to a clean folder.
  3. On the extension-management page, either replace the old unpacked folder and reload the extension or remove the old unpacked entry and load the new folder.
  4. Refresh every open spreadsheet tab.
  5. Confirm the version and your active profile.

The public manifest key is intentionally retained so development installations can keep a stable extension identity. It is not a private signing key.

Troubleshooting

When the interface does not change after installation:

Never upload a private spreadsheet, document ID, browser profile, token, cookie, or unredacted confidential screenshot when asking for help.
